Altering a Board Book

£35

The first time I altered a children’s board book was two years ago now. I found this tiny book in a charity shop for 20 pence and decided I would resurrect it my way. I had altered normal books before, but this felt different. It was a satisfying project, it was new, it was manageable. I continued to alter board books, and discovered a community of artists who do the same, which is always very comforting.

If you’ve not tried altering a board book, this is for you. In this class you will learn how to create your own unique, one of a kind artist book. I will show you how to prepare your substrate, I’ll let you in on my process of collaging, trying to break down my choices and preferences for compositions.

This class will give you enough elements to go and make something entirely new and unique to you. There will be simple instructions to create a very versatile object that can be customised and made yours with your own input, paper choices and stories. These principles can be applied to any creation your imagination can dream up.
