I am an artist living and working in Scotland, UK. I make collage and assemblage art with found objects. When working with found photographs I try to evoke memory, to draw a visual poem that can turn anonymity into identity. I work with curiosity and with a sense of wonder, discovering a return to my roots as a gatherer and connecting to my ancestors. As a self-learner, I approach my work with humility and a constant desire to expand my skills and push my creative boundaries.
In my work, I aim to tap into the collective unconscious, with works that explore loss and play, memory and identity. I like to offer a suggestion, or a glimpse, but the deeper understanding of my work comes from the emotional response of who observes, through their perception in the present moment. With a deep reverence for old, discarded, and forgotten papers and photographs, I strive to celebrate their beauty and potential in my collage and mixed media pieces.
Working for me is a personal and meditative practice that I explore mindfully, following my intuition. This is also reflected in the way that I teach, encouraging discovery and play, celebrating mistakes and insights. I offer prerecorded classes that can be explored at your own pace, in person workshops, and also live online classes that I intentionally keep small. I feel privileged to be able to offer sacred and intimate circles where we can feel safe to express ourselves creatively and even begin to heal together.
